Summit cross-country runners receive 4A Western Slope league honors
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the 4A Western Slope league announced its list of cross-country athletes that have earned all-league team honors for the 2024 fall season.
Among the 14 athletes named to the 4A Western Slope first team were seven Summit athletes, including senior Josh Shriver, sophomore Jay McDonald, sophomore Lukas Remeikis, senior Ella Hagen, freshman Sophie Dinse, sophomore Lily Benbow and senior Avery Eytel.
Six more Summit runners earned a honorable-mention team recognition, including sophomore Owen Fallon, senior Will Bentley, junior Cain Steinweg, junior Carter Niemkiewicz, freshman Paige Ratliff and sophomore Ashley Adkins.
With no league meet for 4A Western Slope league teams, Summit was crowned Western Slope champions, and head coach Mike Hagen was named coach of the year on both the girls and boys side.
Summit will compete at the 4A state cross-country meet on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Colorado Springs.
