Summit Daily needs couth

Deana Maxedon, Breckenridge

The carefree, liberal attitude of this newspaper infuriates me at times. As a weekly advertiser in your paper, I am appalled that you show no couth whatsoever in some of your reporting. In the Oct. 6 issue, on page A3, you printed in big letters, “Deputies on the lookout for horny hiker.”Could you not think of another, more appropriate adjective to describe the suspect? Could you not have used obscene instead? I have a 7-year-old who is an excellent reader and looks through the paper from time to time. I never thought I would have to closely monitor his browsing through a local newspaper. I understand the need to be laid back at times, but come on, you people are supposed to be a reputable reporting organization. I cannot imagine any major news organization calling any suspect, as disgusting as he sounds, horny. Do your reporting as necessary, but be able to respect yourself afterwards.
