Summit Day Camps staff are truly super stars
Do you ever wonder where children go in the summer? Many of them are on family vacations, playing outside or just hanging around. However, many children attend summer camp programs, such as Summit Summer Day Camps, to continue building on social skills, to increase academic potential, and mostly, just to have a blast. In addition to the strong collaborative relationship between the Summit School District and the Summit County government, ultimately the glue that holds this program together is the wonderful people behind and in front of the scenes who dedicate themselves for 11 weeks throughout the summer.
These committed folks are driven to provide fun, educational and entertaining activities for children every day. They are creative, flexible, diverse, caring and professional local people who pride themselves on the work they do with children. The Summit Day Camp staff is comprised of retired teachers, young teachers just entering the education field and some staff that have been with our program for several years.
An example of the programs offered to keep children busy at summer camp includes but is not limited to: field trips to Ocean Journey, Water World, Rockies stadium, Glenwood hot springs, the Denver Zoo; swimming trips and lessons; rock climbing; science experiments; art projects; daily hiking trips and educational trips to the library.Counselors also spend time reading and journaling with the children to reflect constructively on each day’s experiences.
Every day, the Summit Summer Day Camp staff demonstrates and instills positive assets into children. On behalf of the children and parents, I want to recognize all their hard work. You are summer camp super stars! The staff includes Teresa Sooter, Molly Thomas, Charles Willis, Jodi Owens, Katrina Shambarger, Alan Pfister, Danna Olbright, Colleen Jackson, Leah Friday and Pam Reynolds.I also want to thank all the organizations that continually collaborate with us to provide high-quality programming and support our commitment to excellence.
