Summit deputies apprehend first place in Vail

Local deputies with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office swept top slots in the 40th anniversary Peace Officers Ski and Snowboard Race in Vail March 8.

It is the fifth consecutive year the sheriff’s office has taken first in the advanced division.

Deputy Jeff Wilson came in first this year, with a time of just over 36 minutes. Technician Mark Watson came in a close second at 37 minutes 46 seconds and Detective Sgt. Wes Mumford finished in 43:55, securing the 10th place spot.
