Summit Education Foundations thanks community for support

A huge thank you to our local community for supporting the Summit Education Foundation’s two spring fundraisers in an effort to raise $45,000 for our local schools! The spelling bee and Mini Cooper fundraisers were both enormously successful.Adult Spelling BeeMelanie Frank’s Slifer, Smith and Frampton team held off Colorado Learning Connection and The Legend (Summit Cove team sponsored by A-Basin) to win the first annual Big Buzz Off in front of a crowd of almost 400 people at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge. Of course it took over $3,000 in generous contributions by the Slifer team to ultimately pull out the win – but money well spent, when they successfully spelled “daguerreotype” to take home the trophy and title. MINI COOPERHow many ping pong balls were in the MINI Cooper…19581! Myra Eby’s winning guess of 19,570 ultimately won her the car, but in a bold and courageous display of generosity, Myra donated the MINI Cooper back to SEF, in return for requesting a directed gift of $5,000 to Frisco Elementary where their daughter attends 4th grade. The Eby Family’s generosity added another $20,000 to our funds raised through our spring fundraisers, bringing our final total to over $45,000 to enhance technology in the District. Thank you to our generous sponsors Pinnacle Mountain Homes and Grand Lodge on Peak 7, and to the following teams that participated in THE BIG BUZZ OFF!
