Summit High School Gold Cards benefit athletics

The Summit High School cheerleading squad is selling Tigers Gold Cards to benefit the cheer team and Summit High School athletics as a whole. Gold Cards cost $10 and offer discounts and freebies at businesses all over the county. Some discounts are good throughout the country.

Look for SHS cheerleaders selling the cards at local supermarkets or call SHS cheer coach Maggie Hedge at (970) 547-0822.

MOPS seeks volunteers

The Summit County Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is seeking volunteers to assist in childcare. The organization needs loving, dedicated people to watch children 3 years old and younger during MOPS meetings, which are held the first and third Wednesday of each month, September through May. Time commitment is 2-5 hours per month.

MOPS is a nonprofit organization that helps nurture moms of children 6 years old and younger. The first meeting of the season will be Wednesday, Sept. 3. Call Jody at (970) 513-7746 or e-mail for more information.

SmokeFree fundraiser is Sept. 24

The SmokeFree Summit organization will have a fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 24 at Ti Amo Ristorante in Frisco.

Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Admission includes a buffet including main course, salad and bread.

There will be a cash bar, live music and raffle items.

Synagogue of the Summit Sunday school

Synagogue of the Summit will host another year of Sunday School starting Sept. 7. Janet Wolfson will teach the older students, taking over for Heidi Dickstein. Susan Payer and Mark Lincenberg will continue as teachers.

Sunday school will cover the Jewish holidays, songs, rituals, prayers and the Hebrew alphabet.

Special events are also planned, such as Israeli dance classes and field trips. Cost is $125 for the first child, $100 for a second child and $75 for a third child. All ages are welcome.
