Summit High School prepares to celebrate homecoming with a full week of sporting events
Homecoming week at Summit High School is here, and the schedule is packed with sporting events ahead of the big homecoming dance on Saturday night.
The girls rugby team and the girls volleyball team will host homecoming games on Thursday Sept. 21. The undefeated Summit girls rugby team will take on Monarch and Eagle Valley at Tiger Field in Breckenridge at 6 p.m., and the girls volleyball team will take on Rifle High School from inside Summit High School at 6:30 p.m.
The Summit girls volleyball team recently defeated Steamboat Springs High School on Saturday, Sept. 16 in order to gain its first 4A Western Slope league win of the season. Summit defeated Steamboat Springs three sets to one and is now 5-6 overall on the season.
The Tigers’ home football game this week against Wheat Ridge High School will take place on Friday, Sept. 22. Fresh off its first home win of the season and a bye week, Summit will look to improve its record to 3-2 with a huge win against the 1-3 Wheat Ridge Farmers. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Homecoming week will conclude with the boys soccer team hosting Atlas Preparatory School for a non-league matchup on Saturday, Sept. 23. The game is slated for 11 a.m.
On the road this week, the Summit golf team will compete in the Class 4A regional golf tournament in Grand Junction on Wednesday, and members of the Summit cross-country team will travel to Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invitational on Friday.
