Summit Huts Association has opportunities
to earn hut nights
The Summit Huts Association (SHA) has announced its fall volunteer schedule where workers can earn hut nights.
Three work weekends are set in September and October.
The first two will be held at Janet’s Cabin near Copper Mountain in the Guller Creek drainage on the weekends of Sept. 20-21 and Sept. 27-28.
Volunteers will need to hike about five miles to the cabin with their own personal gear on the first weekend and about three miles on the second weekend.
Volunteers will be able to spend the night at the cabin and take advantage of the amenities that the hut provides, including a wood-burning sauna.
On Oct. 4-5, SHA will be hosting another volunteer day at the Section House at the top of Boreas pass above Breckenridge.
Volunteers can drive to this hut and are welcome to spend the night.
Tasks include the splitting, moving and stacking of firewood; general cleaning; and minor repairs. All volunteers will receive as compensation a free night in any of Summit Huts’ private hutmasters quarters and a Summit Huts T-shirt.
