From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Summit County Community Center, 151 Peak One Blvd. in the Hoosier Room. The American Independent Business Alliance is offering this statewide gathering for those concerned with supporting local, independent business in their communities. Independent Business Alliances, and others working on local efforts and serious about organizing, will share ideas, resources and collaboration opportunities. Featured speakers are Jeff Milchen and Jennifer Rockne (founders of the Boulder Independent Bussiness Alliance), and Michael Kinsley of the Rocky Mountain Institute.Community-level organizing to support independent businesses is escalating rapidly in the Southern Rockies, and this gathering will accelerate the Localization Movement and help connect participants. Specific workshop topics will likely include: executing an effective buy local campaign, member recruitment and retention, media skills, building the power of your brand, nonmembership fundraising opportunities, effective messaging, IBA-specific website tips and tricks and more (tell us what you want to learn or discuss).Must register to attendat http://amiba.net/state_gathering_colorado.html.
