Summit Recycling accepting used electronics starting Monday

FRISCO – The Summit Recycling Project (SRP) is hosting its last used electronics recycling program of the year 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Monday through Friday.SRP will accept used TVs, computers and other electroinics at its Frisco Drop-Off Center on 8th Avenue.Fees are $15 a TV (large screens extra), $10 a monitor, $5 a CPU or laptop computer, and $3 for large printers and copiers. All other peripherals are free.No appointment is necessary, but SRP officials say people with 10 or more units to recycle should call ahead at (970) 668-5703.Environmental Protection Agency statistics show that electronics (TVs and monitors) are now the largest contributors of lead to the nation’s landfills, according to the SRP.Each computer contains between five and eight pounds of hazardous materials, including lead, mercury and cadmium.
