Summit School District accepting nominations for November school board election

Summit School District accepting nominations for Nov. school board election

The Summit School District Board of Education announced last week it is accepting candidate nominations for its biennial election this November.

On the ballot this year are three openings for directors at large positions. School board positions are four-year terms.

To be eligible, candidates must be registered voters and must have resided within the school district boundaries for at least 12 consecutive months prior to November’s election. Persons convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child are not eligible to run for school board.

In addition, potential candidates must submit a letter of intent and complete a nomination petition, which requires at least 50 signatures from registered voters in the district.

Nomination petitions may be acquired from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Summit School District Central Administration Office, 150 School Road.

Completed petitions must be returned by 4 p.m. Aug. 30 to Karen Mack, the school district’s designated election official.
