The Summit Strikers FC 2011 girls team finished the season undefeated with a perfect record of 8-0 in the Elite Division of the Colorado Advanced League.

The finish not only secured the team the championship title of the Elite Division, but it also earned the team a promotion to the Premier 3 Division this fall.

This marks a historic first for the soccer club, as it will be first soccer team in the club’s 24-year history to compete in the Premier Division in the state.

“The girls have steadily progressed and deserve this achievement,” head coach Jerome Hickey said. “This close-knit group works hard for each other, and every player has contributed to our success. Their understanding of the game and their commitment sets us apart. The motto ‘first to the ball, last to give up’ is in our DNA. Most of these girls will be freshman next year at Summit High School and the future looks bright there as well in the coming years.”

The 2011 boys team under the leadership of newly appointed Summit High School varsity soccer coach Julio Mora earned the co-championship of the Colorado Soccer Advanced League Platinum Division. Most of the players will be freshman this fall and will compete for a junior varsity or varsity spot.

The High Country Soccer Association is proud to support the Summit High School soccer program and help raise the level of all the players in the county. With over 1,200 players participating in these programs, the association says it is proud to be the largest Summit County sports organization serving only Summit County residents.
