Summit Up 10-26-09

Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column shocked and amazed by the chocolate table at the annual Wine in the Pines event in Keystone Saturday night.

We nibbled, we sampled, we stared – we oooo-ed and ahhhh-ed. It was chocolate whipped and dipped, speckled and even pink. In fact, after seeing this delicious table of goodies, we’re convinced – there is a god.

We even went back for seconds, and our lovely date held our wine glass while we gazed adoringly at all the yummy treats. Truth be told, we didn’t overindulge. We’re picky after all. But, man oh man, what a night. What a chocolatey night.

The service was great, and oh yeah – the wine was good too!

In even more Wine in the Pines news, we want to give a shout out to all those well-dressed Summit County folks who went all out, strapped on masquerade masks, fancy dress clothes and even wore heals! It’s not every day we see such style. Let’s keep it up, peeps!

We especially enjoyed trying to figure out who our friends were behind their disguises. We wish masks were allowed all the time. We’d totally wear one, especially if we had a pimple.

High heals were not the best choice for last night’s weather however. When we walked up our steps, we might as well have been barefoot while we sloshed through an inch of wet snow.

Maybe, just maybe, that’s why us locals rarely dress up. We’d rather wear boots.

In dress up news, we still want to know what everyone is going to be for Halloween.

Will you be a nurse? Rambo? A vampire from the Twilight series?

Could someone please be Edward Cullen and wear those neat, gold contacts?

Who’s going to be President Obama? Anyone?

E-mail us at and let us know your terribly clever ideas.

We have no idea what to be and we need some tips for sure.

In hair news, we just got our hair done – a favorite activity

of ours, and we want to give a shout out to Emma over at Hair Harmonies in Frisco. She always does a great job – she listens, she shapes, she colors, she has good music on in the background. Our hair is awesome! Thanks, girl!

Getting a hair cut can be traumatizing, so we’re always extra appreciative when we get a good one. Everyone can relate. Once, we got a perm and our hair melted. It even repelled water – No joke! Another time, we ended up with little tufts of hair around our ears that looked like sideburns.

That definitely isn’t the case this time around. We’re in heaven.

In ski town news, we recently visited Aspen and loved it. It’s like a European village with Fendi. But the whole time were were there, we were thinking: “There’s no place like Summit County!”

We love our coffee shops, ski- town flavor, views of the mountains and the friendly locals community. Plus, the margaritas taste better and cost less.

We wouldn’t trade Summit for anything.

In thoughts of a deep and philosophical nature, we have none. Our mind is tired. Open. Watchful. Quiet.

We’re like a hermit in the

forest, just gazing at everything happening around us. We think we’re just going to be contemplative for a while. Pensive. We’ll let you know if we come up with any mind-shattering ideas, or if we finish our book.

So be it for now, and we like it.

We’re watching the snow

flutter down from the gray, quiet sky and we’re thinking to ourselves – winter is here.

We’re out, chasing dreams of gourmet chocolate. Yuuuum.
