Summit up

Special to the Daily

Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column ticking off our California web readership by going to bed.

See, it all happened earlier this week, when we made deadline and couldn’t wait for the Lakers box score to come rolling across the wire. Little did we know that Kobe would score 81 points; nor did we know that some of readers get their Lakers news from our paper. We regress. We apologize, although we could do little about it. For history’s sake, here is the letter we received, courtesy of Bob Blum of Cypress, Calif.

“I was disappointed that SDN did not see fit to report Kobe Bryant’s amazing 81 points against Toronto on Sunday night. Kobe’s performance was the most in over 40 years and the the second most since Wilt’s 100 points in 1962, and in my opinion, an even more remarkable achievement.

“I realize Kobe is not popular in Colorado due to his off-court behavior. However, the ‘Summit Up’ in Monday’s SDN devoted an entire column to that multi-murderer, Simpson.”As a good-natured reminder, Bob, both Kobe and O.J. have escaped serious charges in the court of law.

It’s Thursday, and we see snow creeping into the forecast again this weekend. Call us at (970) 668-3998, ext. 13600, or e-mail us at’re out appeasing our Mongolian readership.
