Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, thinking we might, actually, have to shove someone’s face in the mess to get this countywide dog waste disgrace taken care of.Apparently the whole dog poo message isn’t really sinking in, because just as we were in the midst of typing our scintillating thoughts, some guy strolls by the Corporate Suites and coolly lets his big black pooch deposit their poo right outside our window, less than 20 feet from where we are sitting.DISGUSTING! This guy didn’t even have a baggie with him and clearly had no intention whatsoever of dealing with his dog’s dumpage. Maybe this was a deliberate act of domestic terrorism, aimed at intimidating the press and stifling our criticism of careless, irresponsible dog owners, but we won’t give in! Like Winston Churchill, we shall fight in the streets and fight on the beaches for our collective right to a dog poop-free environment. We definitely need to calm down after that experience, so we want to point out that there are places and trails in Summit County where doggy doo is not all that prevalent, and we are looking forward to spending our lunch break in one of those spots. We love the way the woods smell this time of year, with the earth all wet from melting snow, the acidity of the soil, the pine sap … just as long as we can get away from dog crap!***Now, on to happier times. Joe and Susan Ray of Dillon are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Brooke Cowart of Houston, Texas, to Justin Wade Kugler, also of Houston. Jennifer is a second-year medical student at University of Texas in Houston, and Justin is in the doctoral program at Rice University in Houston. The couple plans to be married on Sunday, June 11, at the Pavilion in Silverthorne. ***We hear wedding bells, or in this case, a wedding siren and some paddles. This, truly, is a match made in Colorado …Clyde and Robin Wiessner (formerly of Dillon), along with Stephen and Linda Gibb (formerly of Breckenridge), are happy to announce the engagement of their children, Jaye Aimee Wiessner and Jason Hamilton Gibb.A Colorado wedding is being planned for autumn 2007. Jason and Jaye will be moving to West Yellowstone, Mont., this summer, where Jason will work for the U.S. Forest Service as a Smoke Jumper and Jaye will be guiding white water raft trips.
