Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column that has found the best bruise this side of the Mississippi, and probably this side of the Ganges.

For over a month now, folks out in Summit Up land have sent us their gnarliest photos of bruises and/or other injuries earned from this ski season to the present. We ended up with golf balls to the head, man-eating tree casualties and skis to the head. But no one can beat Brian Jones’ blackened leg. He got this award winner from a ski injury on Peak 9. Brian submitted this photo in the middle of May, and we’d really, really like to see what color it is now. Maybe green and yellow. Or, in a worst-case scenario, Brian’s leg has rotted off. He looks proud of his achievement, and we’re happy for him too, because now we can give him prizes.

As promised, we have a brand-new rainforest puzzle waiting for Brian because this contest is all about breaking things then putting them back together again. And, as a token of hope for Brian’s athletic future, we have a copy of “The Colorado Trail,” the official guidebook of the Colorado Trail Foundation.

So Brian, give us a shout at (970) 668-4620, or just come to the Corporate Suites at 40 W. Main in Frisco. But be prepared to show identification ” you’ll have to drop your pants before you get your hands on the schwag.

We’re out, wondering if we would look like purple smurfs if our whole body was the color of Brian’s leg.
