Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column that thinks moms deserve more than just one day. Moms really do, as Oprah says, have the hardest job in the world. You may think your job is hard, but at least you didn’t have to change about 50 dirty diapers a day, do laundry for what seems like an eternity and cook a meal for five like it was nothing at all. We salute mothers everywhere and hope that you are doing absolutely nothing today, but sitting on the couch and eating cookies that your children made for you. Here is a reader who loves their mom so much they wrote a poem about moms and here it is: “Mothers are a masterpiece, mothers make all. Mothers are there for you even when you fall. They’re always there to listen and to hear your problems even since you were a little tot. They would take you with them in care and would never swear. Mothers are like the sun watching over their flowers each day, and as each petal drops time slipping away. And, we as their children should always be reminded that on this day in May, we should always honor our mothers before they get to gray. There are many who do not give a pity and in the end they will be the ones who are lift out. They will then shout out, but it will be to late. So, enjoy the time and don’t let it pass for it does grow like grass. Just do what I say on this day and time will never pass away.”

***We also have a joke, sent in by a reader, and we think Summit County moms will enjoy this one.A man was driving down the road and ran out of gas. Just at that moment, a bee flew in his window. The bee said, “What seems to be the problem?”

“I’m out of gas,” said the man.The bee told the man to wait right there and flew away. Minutes later, the man watched as an entire swarm of bees flew at his car and into his gas tank. After a few minutes, the bees flew out. “Try it now,” said one bee.The man turned the ignition key and the car started right up. “Wow!” the man exclaimed. “What did you put in my gas tank?”

The bee answered, “BP.”***We out, writing to congress that we have discovered a new alternative fuel.
