Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column realizing we’re really lucky to have such cheap gas prices.
Yep. We just said that, which might be the first time in the history of Summit Up where we’re not condemning local gas stations. We drove to the pump this morning and paid our $3.50, whistling through our teeth.
We realize a year ago, we would have been shaking our heads at such prices, but as we talk to a Field Agent in Texas right now, he’s telling us their gas prices are nearing $3.70. He was upset, obviously, because he had watched Texas eliminate its environment in favor of producing oil, so he wondered, “Why are we getting charged more than a bunch of Colorado-living, Obama-supporting environmentalists?”
This is a good question, but one we really don’t want to know the answer to. If we do, we might discover some backroom deal and, because we’re journalists, we’d have to write about it. Then we’d get politicians in jail, our gas prices raised and we’d be back in normal resortville, if there is such a thing.
We’ll keep quiet and hope our gas stays cheaper than the national average. And while we’re at it, we have to mention the following: This is just one more reason to love living in paradise.
