Summit Up

Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column here to help you with those last minute Valentine’s Day card poems.

You’re sitting there scratching your head, and the only thing you can come up with is the fact that the holiday, when abbreviated, is “VD.” Trust us, that’s not the most romantic thing you can put on the card.

Here’s a few Karen sent us. We don’t know where she got them, but they should get you started:

n “I thought that I could love no other, until, that is, I met your brother.”

n “I see your face when I am dreaming, that’s why I always wake up screaming.”

n “My feelings for you no words can tell, except for maybe “go to hell.'”

OK, now that we’re looking at what we’re cutting and pasting, we realize we have the wrong list. These are from the “break-up poems” we’ve been collecting over the years (we’ve received plenty). Oh, well, you’re on your own.

Congrats! to Erin Callan, a second year architecture major at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. She was selected to attend the New York City 2003 Off-campus Program in June of this year. We don’t know exactly what that is, but it has to do with architecture and it’s a big deal. Erin, by the way, is from Breckenridge and graduated from Summit High School in 2001.

If your date today ends up badly, or you never had one to start with, take some time to collect your thoughts about romance (or the hot and sweaty substitute, if you prefer) to, fax at (970) 668-0755 or just sing that J. Geils classic, “Love stinks,” on the voicemail at (970) 668-3998, ext. 237.

We’re out gettin’ in love gear …
