Summit Up 8-26-12: Do we mourn the fall of Lance?

Summit Up
Special to the Daily/Dina Guenther

Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column that’s having mixed feelings about Lance Armstrong. You know, that guy that inspired millions across the world after conquering cancer and retaining his rock-solid hammys to win more bicycle championships than anyone else?

Well now he’s been outed by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency for using steroids! A deception like that will lose a guy 14 years of his career – in Lance’s case that includes a record seven Tour de France titles.

Adding insult to injury, his career is totally over – banned for life – lanced! (For those of you who didn’t make the connection, all of us over here at the Brain Factory have an answer for you. OK so – “lanced” in the verb form means “prick or cut open with a sharp instrument.”)

It’s coming at a pretty weird time since the USA Pro Cycling Challenge just swept through Breck – as such an avid biking community, should we mourn the loss of a great athlete? Or should we light up our village torches and chase after him like an ogre? We’re not too sure about this one but something can definitely be said about the bike world’s Knight in Shining Spandex turning out to be a total doper… what a bummer.

Don’t take steroids.

We out.
