Summit Up

Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column serving as a bit of obituary space for the day.

Somewhere on this page, you should see the death certificate that was mysteriously faxed to our office today (and, no, not the pictures of those 40-year-old birthday boys – we’re talking about the other obituary). Yes, if you hadn’t already heard, the Claimjumper served up its last 2-2-2 on Wednesday (although the true $2 special passed on a few years back).

In fact, the Claimjumper is probably special to many, like us, because it is not a place associated with memories. Whether it was a hangover-induced craving for a hearty breakfast or a lunch-time escape from tedium or stress at work, that counter, those booths are where we went to wake up, clear the head, think about something else, or nothing at all, while getting our grub on.

But change is the one certainty in the world, we guess. Here’s a Shout Out! to the Claimjumper staff, who didn’t exactly get to choose this change. Good luck.

We’re out looking over a four-leaf clover …
