Summit Up: Celebrating the birthday of Sir Chomps O’ Lot

by Summit Up
Special to the Daily/Ryan Halverson

Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column that has gators on the mind, and we’re not talking about some football team in Florida. We have information in front of us here that leads us to believe the Colorado Gators Reptile Park will have its Fall Local Appreciation Day this Saturday. Admission will be FREE to all visitors all day Saturday to celebrate Sir Chomps O’ Lot’s birthday.

Millions of Summit Up Readers: Who the hell is Sir Chomps O’ Lot?

SU: What, were you born yesterday?! Sir Chomps O’ Lot was the first alligator ever hatched in Colorado on September 25, 1997.

Colorado Gators is located 17 miles north of Alamosa on Hwy 17 and open everyday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more details check out

So here’s a Scum Alert! Scum Alert! from Bona Dea Dicke, who writes:

“My son was volunteering at OctoberFest in Breckenridge this past Saturday as part of the Summit High Football team. He had put his new backpack with his NEW graphing calculator and a borrowed helmet from the Town of Silverthorne in one of the recycling tents for safe keeping. Evidentally, someone saw it in there and thought that they needed said backpack more than my 10th grader did! Now my son will have a tough time doing his homework without his calculator AND has to work off the money to pay back TOS for their helmet. Can this person PLEASE return the backpack, or at least the items mentioned to either the Town of Breckenridge, the Rec Center, or the Summit Daily so that my son can pass his class and know that there IS compassion in this world?? Thanks!”

Slimy. Someone help!

We out.
