Summit Up: Loving springtime!

Special to the DailyLauren 'Lomo' Molieri was in a serious snowboarding accident on March 31.

Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column enjoying the spring snow.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area was bumpin’ Saturday. All the parking lots were full. Locals were wearing

one-pieces, dresses over their snow pants and one man even wore a pink bunny costume. There was a DJ in a tent, surrounded by a huge crowd – including numerous ladies hula-hooping in celebration.

And there was snow – white, wet, spring snow. Up to a foot-and-a-half on top some say. Of course it was tracked out quickly, but Summit County (and the Front Range) was out in full force to celebrate the generous snowstorm heaped upon the mountains over the weekend.

Talk about good luck and tons of fun! Want to share spring snow stories with Summit Up? We’d love to hear them. E-mail us at and tell us.

And speaking of snow, we have a thank you from Lauren “Lomo” Molieri (pictured above) was in a serious snowboarding accident on March 31.

Apparently Lomo hit the third jump in the Park Lane Terrain Park at Breck on a sunny day.

“She got owned by a gust of wind that unexpectedly inverted her, causing a terrible face-plant. She got four plates in her face, 15-plus screws, a broken nose, a broken back in three places, a broken collarbone and a medical bill upwards of $85,000. But Lomo is in good spirits and says, ‘None of this is too big for God.’ She did not have health insurance and faces some big hospital bills as she heals slowly.” recently hosted a pancake breakfast to benefit Lomo, and it was a huge success.

“We would like to thank all the people who donated – Agape Outpost, Dillon City Market and the Walmart for donations as well as supporting our effort,” said in an e-mail.

To donate to Lomo’s health care bills and find out about future fundraisers, visit or send your donations to: Lauren Molieri, P.O. Box 904, Dillon, CO 80435.

Good luck, Lauren! We hope you heal up soon.
