Support 3A and 3B to craft the future

Christine ScanlanSummit Cove

Since joining the Summit School Board almost six months ago, I have had the opportunity to work toward the support of the proposed mill levy Measure 3A and bond issue Measure 3B. We are fortunate to live in a community that strongly values education and which understands that a quality school system benefits everyone. The numerous community forums our superintendent, Dr. Millie Hamner, has participated in explaining the importance of both of these measures has opened a dialogue with the community that we as a school board intend to sustain. We are structuring our board meetings this year to include something of a “town hall” format. One worksession meeting a month will be focused on an issue of importance to the community. At these worksessions, we encourage community members to join us and share their thoughts, ideas, criticisms and concerns as part of an ongoing conversation. The format is casual, and candor is encouraged. Community input is essential as a key part of our decision-making process. We are striving to eliminate communication barriers between the board and the community, which will better serve the students of Summit County.Together we can attain the goal of providing every student of Summit School District an outstanding education that will allow them to achieve success. Please vote yes on 3A and 3B and join us in crafting the future of Summit schools.
