Suspect arrested in slaying of Iraq War Army veteran
COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a soldier who served two tours in Iraq.Police say they arrested Louis Edward Bressler Wednesday night on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of Specialist Kevin R. Shields.Investigators have not said what led them to arrest the 24-year-old Bressler or what the motive may have been for Shields’ slaying.Police say they obtained a warrant for Bressler’s arrest Wednesday afternoon and took him into custody as he drove into a gas station.A newspaper carrier found his body on a sidewalk early Saturday. Police say he had been shot several times.The 24-year-old Shields was a native of Roscoe, Illinois. He was a member of the Second Brigade Combat Team of the Second Infantry Division based at Fort Carson.
