Suspect in 8 Colo. bank robberies caught by police

DENVER – Police have arrested a man suspected in eight Denver-area bank robberies after he was spotted in line at a bank.

Wheat Ridge police spokeswoman Lisa Stigall says officers apprehended 38-year-old Trent Hix Tuesday afternoon after a teller at a bank noticed him standing in line and called police.

Hix left the bank before reaching the teller window and police arrested him as he walked down the street.

Fliers of a man matching Hix’s description had been passed out by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force. The robber had been dubbed the JV Bandit, after a letterman jacket he wore.

FBI spokesman Dave Joly says Hix is now in federal custody. A message left at a number listed for Hix wasn’t immediately returned.
