Suzy Randolph: County layoffs: handled poorly?

In light of the recent announcements regarding the county’s fleet maintenance department, I am very concerned about how this played out. Did anyone ask the fleet maintenance employees for their ideas on how to reduce expenses before making the decision to outsource this work? They could have been asked to take a reduction in pay or figure out the Take a Break program or anything in lieu of being blindsided. I didn’t think crapola like this could happen in Summit County. I’m disappointed and saddened by this recent news.
