Tale Spinners held Monday

The speaker for the Monday meeting of Tale Spinners will be Joni Ellis. Joni’s talk is titled “30 Years of Rivers at 5-foot-two” Joni grew up in California, graduated from Regis University and has been a Summit County resident for 25 years. Joni began “Joni Ellis River Tours” in the early ’80s and sold the business in the mid-’90s.She then owned and operated Good Times Tours (100 snowmobiles, 50 sled dogs and two draft horses for sleigh ride dinners) until 1996. After working for the Summit School District for 6 years, she and her husband, Pat Wathen, have owned and operated Independent Property Inspections.Joni has been a rafter for 30-plus years. She has run the Grand Canyon every decade for the last four years and began rafting when women guides were just beginning to be accepted. Joni has also run the Salmon, Snake, Cataract Canyon, Gates of Lodore, Desolation and Grey Canyons, Tuolomne, Stanislaus and Salt Rivers, among others on trips up to 21 days.The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Community and Senior Center near Frisco.
