Special to the Daily

ARAPAHOE BASIN – Live music is slowly beginning to pick up again and luckily for the folks who haven’t put away their ski pants yet, the temperatures are picking up just as slowly. A-Basin’s second to last weekend open for the season is packed with live music and beer with the Fifth annual Festival of the Brewpubs Sunday and the Shakin’ at the Basin free May concert series picking up the slack Saturday and Monday.During Sunday’s festival, for $15 party-goers can score a souvenir mug that allows unlimited beer tasting from noon to 4 p.m. Participating breweries include Backcountry, Breckenridge, Dillon Dam, Pug Ryan’s and the Great Northern Tavern serving up their favorite handcrafted ales. Music begins at 11 a.m. with a DJ spinning in the base area until reggae artist Jubal takes over at 1 p.m. at the ticket office front steps. The long weekend gets warmed up Saturday with Double Parked playing 1-4 p.m. at the ski area base. The band is currently working on its debut album and plays regularly at Dulcinea’s 100th Monkey in Denver. On Monday, snowriders can catch a free show with Kinetix at 1 p.m. Kinetix, who came together at various Denver campuses, draws influences from rock, pop and funk in its original music.
