Taylor: Give Summit libraries some love (letter)

If you haven’t visited your branch library recently, now would be a great time to do so. Why? Because it’s National Friends of the Library Week. You’ll find all sorts of new technology: Chromebooks and iPads for in-house use, Xbox One games for teens, video editing equipment and more public computers.

The Main Branch in Frisco has a new microfilm/fiche reader/printer, and North Branch in Silverthorne loans out Kindles with various books already loaded — one of which even reads aloud for the visually-impaired. And just about everything is state of the art at the amazing new South Branch in Breckenridge. New books, CD books and DVDs arrive regularly.

While you’re at any branch, you can pick up a flier announcing the times and dates for those truly wonderful travel slide shows at North Branch. You can become a Friend or a volunteer or a donor all at once. If you can’t just drop in, visit virtually at http://www.summitcountylibraries.org.

Libraries are, I sometimes think, a little bit of heaven on Earth.
