Texans power mountain economy; locals are the worst drivers

I think your Web site poll on driving that pits Colorado against Texas drivers is as distasteful as they come.

I dare say there would barely be a Colorado mountain economy were it not for Texans.

I am from Dallas. My mother has been a permanent resident of Summit County for the past nine years. As such, I make frequent trips to the area via my truck. No one ever slows me down.

As for driving fast, the “granola children” of Colorado are complete idiots when it comes to driving. They barrel down Interstate 70, U.S. 40 and Highway 9 in complete darkness with no idea what’s around the next bend or where that next patch of black ice is going to be.

How often does your paper report the death of some unfortunate soul who hit an elk or a mule deer? Maybe they misjudged a curve or hit some ice. Mountain people need to chill out and get a life.
