Thank you for supporting Read Across America

Silverthorne Elementary students and staff

On Friday, Feb. 22, Silverthorne Elementary School celebrated Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Our main focus was to celebrate reading and our reading successes thus far this year. Festivities included making green eggs and ham, Poetry Café, buddy reading and guest readers. We would like to thank the following community members who came to celebrate our special day: Silverthorne Mayor, Dave Koop, Silverthorne Town Council member, Rosanne Shaw, Summit County Sheriff John Minor, and Lt. Troy Maloney, engineer Jonathan Bradley, firefighter August Guettlein, and fFirefighter Mike Waesche, all of Lake Dillon Fire and Rescue. We would also like to thank Safeway of Frisco for generously donating all of the red and white balloons for our celebration. A huge thank you to the Summit Daily for covering our big day. Read Across America Day was a great success because of the participation of our caring community members and the staff of Silverthorne Elementary. The everlasting joy of reading was evident in the voices and hearts of all who participated! Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!
