Thanks for attending Summit Concert Band’s 30th anniversary

Sandy Cleveland,
Summit Concert Band co-founder

For those of you who were there at the Summit Concert Band’s 30th anniversary Celebration and Concert, thank you all – players, directors, board members, audience and whomever I might be missing.

For those of you who were not there, you really missed it! We had a great time, from the Moose Jaw on Friday night, to all the breakfast and break goodies everyone brought on Saturday, to the rehearsing and visiting and getting to know new folks and renewing old friendships. The Elks Lodge did a great job at lunch for us and the afternoon rehearsal went well, even better than I thought it would.

The concert was fantastic! I am so proud of everyone who attended and all the directors. The directors included: Wendy Crowe from Cheyenne, Wyo., John CJ Mueller from Breckenridge, Ann Erdle from Fairplay, Bill Kyrioglou from Denver and Dillon, Patrick Fagan from Carbondale, Carolyn Harner from Broomfield and Frisco, Maryann Ill from Silverthorne and Wharton, N.J., Cyndi McChesney from Canon City and our current director Krystal Thompson from Arvada.

A special thanks to Bill Kyrioglou, band president, for all he did (you soooo worry too much!) and to Janet Anderson for a great job on the program. Beth and Dean Russell, who met in the band, and their daughter Marie Russell (her son will be the third generation!), did a great job on displaying some of the history of the band. It was great seeing old photos, posters, programs, etc. Lisa Knobel helped a great deal with ideas, historical info and running me around to get things done, and our vice president Bill Biggs, although he could not attend, helped getting the word out and spearheaded getting our music library database ready. Thanks to Sandy Greenhut and the Arts for the Summit for presenting the band with a plaque for being around so long. Also, high accolades to the Lord of the Mountains Lutheran Church for allowing use of their facilities, and especially for getting a webcast recorded for us. You can see the entire concert on this site! http://www.ustream.t /recorded/24807560

So, start planning… we’ll do it again in 5 years!
