Thanks for the support in Silverthorne

John Sabal

Many thanks to the town council of Silverthorne for their consideration of me for the vacancy filled Wednesday night instead by Karla Trippe. My best wishes go out to her and the rest of our town government.

While I am disappointed not to have been appointed, I am more disappointed for those of you who voted for me in the April election not to have a voice on the council moving forward. I was humbled by the outpouring of support I received in the general election and for the unanimous public support I received Wednesday night. Thanks again.

While the notion is preserved that “The Silverthorne Town Council will do what it wants to do, the public be damned” it’s important for all of us to remember our democratic process has once again allowed for an orderly transition of representation and we should be most proud of that.

Furthermore, I urge all Silverthorne residents to get more involved in the political process even though Wednesday night’s decision begs the question,

“Why bother?” The reason to bother is the more voices we have in the mix, the better we will all be for knowing our neighbors’ opinions, and perhaps having our town government respond to citizen input.

Town council meetings are every other Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
