Thanks for your contributions

Lisa Cloud, Program Coordinator, Egon Gerson Service Center

I would like to thank the residents of Summit County who have made contributions to the American Red Cross relief efforts for those areas so devastated by the hurricanes so far this year. Since it looks like there are more on the way, the money you have so generously given will be of benefit now and months from now.Summit County is a part of the Mile High Chapter and is serviced out of the office in Dillon. Many know that our office underwent a name change in April to honor Egon Gerson, a local volunteer of over 40 years with the American Red Cross. As of today, the Egon Gerson Service Center will have two volunteers represented in the southern United States helping in whatever way they can. One volunteer is in Florida now, the other is making final arrangements to head out, destination unknown at this time. I am continually touched, from the small to the large, as folks give what they can. Whether by mail or the one who stops by to hand deliver a check, everything is so appreciated by those you are helping. If you are interested in seeing what is being done, you can go to http://www.denver-redcross.org.Summit County is a wonderful place and is unique to the places I’ve been. You have a willingness to share with others, from volunteering to giving in so many other ways, offering a hand up to those around us. I am privileged to be a part of the American Red Cross and to be a part of Summit County.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection.
