Thanks from the Summit Medical Center

Daily Staff Writer

The Summit Medical Center Foundation Board would like to sincerely thank the people of Summit County and the surrounding communities for their support of the hospital. Without that support, the hospital and the Flight for Life Hangar would still be on the drawing board.St. Anthony Summit Medical Center is a faith-based organization providing care for the ill and injured who come to our facility. Summit Medical Center also reaches outside the walls to those most in need, offering community programs and services that bring education, as well as free and low-cost health care services to the indigent, uninsured and under-insured each year. Last year alone, the total community benefit dollars Summit provided, excluding bad debt, amounted to nearly $3.2 million. The challenge of caring for people who are uninsured and under-insured continues to grow throughout our nation. At St. Anthony Summit Medical Center, we treat many of those patients who are unable to pay for their health care. In addition, the cost of many services offered exceeds the payments received from patients, insurance and government programs. In some cases, services offered to the public are free of charge all together. The Summit Medical Center Foundation Board is a group of men and women in the community dedicated to raising funds for the hospital so that it can continue to offer these types of benefits to our community. The money raised supplements the hospital’s revenue so that it can continue to invest in the latest technology, replace equipment, upgrade services and remain competitive in the workforce to attract physicians, nurses and ancillary staff with top skills. The Summit Medical Center Foundation is currently raising funds to purchase a digital mammography system for the hospital. This technology capability was requested by members of the community. With your financial support, this new service can become a reality. If you would like to donate to the Digital Mammography Fund or you would like more information regarding the Summit Medical Center Foundation, please contact Barbara Davis at (970) 485-0739.The Summit Medical Center Foundation Board
