Thanks go to school staff
Last week the Summit County community demonstrated an overwhelming support of our high school graduates through the distribution of close to $300,000 in scholarships awarded to our students. Many of you will agree with me that generosity of this kind doesn’t happen everywhere so I hope that you will join me in thanking the agencies responsible for touching the futures of so many of our students. This week the Summit County community will once again demonstrate support of the education community through the Summit Education Celebration, an annual awards dinner for employees of Summit School District and Colorado Mountain College. Under the leadership of the Business Education Alliance, agencies and individuals have once again contributed resources and/or volunteered their time to cover the costs of dinner for all educators attending this celebration.
The Summit Education Celebration is a wonderful evening of recognition and appreciation of the incredible efforts of employees who stand out because of their hard work on the behalf of learners throughout the county. Through a nomination and selection process, these outstanding individuals will receive the recognition of their peers and well-deserved praise for their great work.I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation of our school district volunteers and the entire community for the unbelievable support demonstrated for our students and staff. We can all be very proud of a community like ours that continually demonstrates the “it takes a village” attitude in working collaboratively with the school district to support a strong public education system.
I would especially like to express my gratitude to all of the employees of Summit School District. We have many outstanding employees who will be recognized this week and countless others deserving of praise and recognition. So, THANK YOU … bus drivers for setting the stage for a good day first thing in the morning and who brave nasty conditions to get our students safely to and from school, kitchen staff for serving up nutritious meals to hungry learners, paraprofessionals for supporting the educational experience for each child, maintenance and custodial staff for working hard to assure clean and safe facilities, secretaries for greeting our families and keeping our buildings running smoothly, our Central Office personnel for providing exceptional services that support the instructional program and the well-being of all children in our care, teachers for planning and delivering meaningful learning experiences for learners, and principals and school administrators for leading the way!
