Mikaela Matthews, U.S. Ski Team

My name is Mikaela Matthews and I am the newest member of the US Ski Team (Freestyle “C” Team). On Nov. 15, Team Summit hosted a scholarship fundraiser for me at the Backcountry Brewery. I just wanted to write to thank everyone in our great community for such awesome support!

Even in this economy, the local businesses were so generous with their donations. I was astounded at how willingly people offered their support. The list of businesses and individuals that donated items for my silent auction is far too long to print here, but please know that I appreciate each and every donation. I wanted to give an extra special thanks to Team Summit for hosting this event and getting me this far through my skiing career; the Backcountry Brewery for donating time and space for this event as well as working around my busy competition and training schedule; Arapahoe Basin for donating two season passes and always providing awesome training; Randall McKinnon for providing wonderful entertainment for the night; and Paragon Lodging for their generous donation. A big thanks to everyone who attended the event as well. The money we raised will be used for my travel and competition expenses throughout the following season, and I am very gracious for everyone’s help. I feel so blessed to live in such a supportive community.
