Thanks to volunteers of Friends of the Dillon Ranger District

Friends of the Dillon Ranger District would like to thank all our “friends” who joined the fun on two tree replanting projects last weekend. On May 8, employees of Vail Resorts and on May 9, Keller Williams, friends of the Goodell Family and other community members volunteered to help reforest the Heaton Bay Campground.

These 75 volunteers generated nearly 290 hours of volunteer stewardship for our local national forest lands. They transplanted 450 lodgepole pine seedlings in an effort to reforest the Heaton Bay Campground after it was devastated by the mountain pine beetle. By reforesting this area, they helped improve the experience for many campers this summer and into the future. Special thanks goes out to our sponsors ” Vail Resorts 360 Program, Keller Williams, and the Goodell Family for providing tasty treats at the beginning and end of the day!
