The best thing about Breckenridge is its people and that’s why I’m coming back

Here we go again. Here’s the deal. It is not the awesome beauty, the great powder, the wonderful bike trails. It is not the fun snowboard shops, the clean air or those freaky, full-pocketed family tourists.

The best thing about Breckenridge is its people.

Every day I remember the residents of this town, and how they made me feel like a part of the community during the five years I lived there.

Now, after some time away, I’m moving back. I can’t wait. I won’t wait.

So many feel like Breckenridge is losing something as it grows. In some ways it is, like view corridor and traffic issues. Still, Breck also has better services, good food, high-speed Internet, free transportation and news.

All I know is, unless you leave for a while, you might not see how nice things really are there.

So, here is a toast to all locals, for making Breckenridge one of the best places to live on the planet.

I look forward to seeing the familiar laughing faces at City Market, the craziness of Thursday nights and the sun on my face all winter long.

If I could close a big gate across Highway 9, I would surely consider it, but then how could someone like me ever come home?

And, if you really want to see a town falling apart all around you, soaking in its own stink, drugged citizens roaming aimlessly, my apartment in Portland will be available soon. Wahoo! Wanna trade?
