The complaining needs to stop

RE: “Whitie is alive!” (SDN Sept. 10)I read the “opinion” piece from Carol Roshto-Smith and felt I had to answer her “opinion” with my own. I am very happy her family is safe, however there are a lot of statements in her “opinion” piece that I take issue with. I am not a political activist, nor am I a newspaper letter writer; I am just a citizen of the greatest country in the world and sick of people who constantly complain and are never satisfied. Ms. Roshto-Smith blames the administration for everything: “FEMA had cut the last emergency phone lines” – “Bush pulling the levee funding” – “Clinton had allocated 100 million over several years but the project was defunded in 2002”. To the folks who blame the government (or I should say, the Bush administration) for everything, I’d like to say it’s getting pretty old. I am tired of people telling us how bad everything is and implying their opinion is fact. The people of New Orleans need to be asking some hard questions, as we all do, and there certainly will be enough blame to go around. But I think the people and administration have opened up their hearts and pocketbooks to help these people who have lost everything – which is what this country is all about.
