Members of Dining for Women party at a baby shower they hosted for expectant Peruvian mothers.

The local chapter of Dining for Women recently traveled to Pucallpa City in Peru to distribute prenatal kits to pregnant women throughout the region. Fifteen women from chapters across the United States made the trek to supply vitamins, sanitary supplies, toys and baby clothes to 35 pregnant women. The ladies also hosted a baby shower for the Peruvian mothers-to-be. The local chapter meets every other month; the next meeting is Saturday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at a private residence. Closer to home, Summit High School students are working to raise funds for a trip of their own trip. Eight students from the Spanish Honors Society will venture to Honduras for a Spanish immersion service project next summer. To help with funding, the group spent last weekend in the CMC parking lot in Breckenridge trying to fill an ARC truck.
