The Silverthorne Rec Center loses 205 pounds and more

The 2006 Fitness challenge at the Silverthorne Recreation Center ended on March 30th. The Fitness challenge is a regular program offered by the Recreation Center for over 10 years. The 12-week challenge began on January 9 with 39 participants. Each participant had initial testing which included weight, measurements, body composition and a before picture. Personal goals were set for each person. Participants met for an optional weekly weigh in, discussion and a fitness class led by one of the recreation center’s personal trainers. The classes included information and tools to provide overall health and fitness. The program provided information for healthy lifestyle changes.

After 12 weeks, the participants had final testing which included weight, measurements, body composition and an after picture. Points were given for each improvement, with each pound corresponding to a point. Prizes were awarded to the top 4 finishers. Overall, there were 20 participants who completed testing.Mike Olsen was the first place winner, losing 44 pounds. He received an annual membership to the Silverthorne Recreation Center.

The second place winner was Linda Majors, losing 18 pounds. She received a 6-month membership to the Silverthorne Recreation Center.

The third place winner was Sylvia Brooksbank, losing 13.5 pounds. She received a 1-month membership to the Silverthorne Recreation Center.For questions or more information on the fitness challenge, contact Renee Rogers at (970) 262-7374.
