Theatre SilCo adds special performance that challenges playwrights to speed write a spin-off to ‘Steel Magnolias’

On Monday, June 30, at 7 p.m., Theatre SilCo will premier an innovative playwriting initiative called “New Dialogues.”
The program invites four playwrights to craft original 10-minute plays in just four days, each inspired by the professional theatre’s current main stage production, “Steel Magnolias,” which is running now through July 13.
As part of the creative endeavor, playwrights attend a performance of “Steel Magnolias” and then write their own short plays. The pieces of work will then be brought to life through staged readings —rehearsed for only three hours — and performed on the set of the main stage production.
Admission to “New Dialogues” is free, but there is a suggested $16 donation. All donations will go to support Theatre SilCo’s ongoing artistic programs and community impact.
To reserve a place in the audience, visit TheSilco.org or call 970-513-9386.
