Bargain BuysBY CHARLOTTE CLARKEFor the budget-minded who think that a vacation home is out of reach, it might be a surprise to find that there are 269 condos in Summit County that are under $225,000. Eighty-seven of them are under $150,000. They range from studios to three bedrooms.

StudiosSome of our personal favorites are found in this group. For instance, there are the Gateway condos located in upscale Keystone. Almost ski-in and ski-out lodging can be affordable here. They start at just over $105,000. Another Bargain Buys favorite in this category is the Cedar Lodge condos in Frisco. These are spacious and well-appointed, and many folks have used them as starter homes. You can soak in a hot tub; some have garages and decks, and you are one block off Main Street. One bedroomThere are many, many choices all over the county for those on a budget. They start at $88,900 for a spacious studio with a full clubhouse in Dillon Valley. For a quiet forest setting try a Treehouse condo in Wildernest or on Quandary in Breckenridge, starting at $92,000. Bargain Buys particularly likes the condos at the top of the town of Dillon by the stoplight on Highway 6. These have wonderful views, no highway noise and are well-maintained. They start at $110,900. Breck is not left out either, you can find a nice one bedroom near town for as low as $127,900.

Two bedroomsCurrently, the two bedroom units begin at $124,900. These Dillon Valley condos have a nice clubhouse and are fully appointed. When updated, they make nice primary or vacation homes. Treehouse condos in Wildernest have two bedrooms beginning at $127,900. Walk to a trail in the forest or enjoy one of two clubhouses there. The Aspen Shadows condos are basic but quiet. They are configured so that you have no neighbors on either side of you. These can be fixed up so they are showpieces. They begin at $129,900. Silver Queen condos (both East and West) have large two bedrooms with private decks starting at $150,000.Three bedrooms

Dillon Valley, both East and West, have affordable three bedrooms with all the amenities. Many upgrades have been made in the valley and many owners are now allowed to put laundry units in their condos. The clubhouses and hiking areas are excellent. Wild Irishman in Keystone has several units under $200,000.TownhomesIf you want all your own vertical space (no one above or below you), consider a townhome. They start at $153,000 in Summit Cove. This one has a fireplace and nice deck with lake views. It is a two bedroom. Vienna Townhomes in Breck are also similar in price.

Single-family homesIf you don’t mind a beautiful drive 30 miles north of Silverthorne, you can buy a two bedroom home in Blue Valley Acres for just under $200,000.If you would like a list of all 269 residences on the market under $225,000, call us.
