Women of the Summit, a local non-profit committed to empowering women in Summit County, Colorado, has announced the recipients of its 2nd Annual Women in Business grants.

This year, Women of the Summit has awarded over $16,000 to women entrepreneurs and professionals in Summit County. Here’s a rundown on the grant recipients and their intended use of the funds:

Tiny Trailblazers

Heidi Berghammer created Tiny Trailblazers, LLC in late 2022 after realizing that going back to her medical career at the hospital was not feasible with a toddler as they were on every child care wait list in Summit County. She is now a licensed in-home child care provider and plans to use the grant funds for a certified public accountant and e-tech sites necessary for running the business.

Winter Wear Rentals

Winter Wear Rentals offers ski and snowboard clothing from the industry’s top names. Matteson Meldon of Winter Wear Rentals will use the grant money to hire a new employee and purchase new inventory to continue to provide rentals throughout the county.

Folcland

Folcland is a slow(er) fashion boutique that offers eco-conscious and ethically made clothing, accessories, jewelry and apothecary items from emerging and established independent designers committed to mindful craftsmanship. Folcland will use the grant funds for merchandising and inventory.

Lumi Baking

Lumi Baking is owned by Diana Bush, who has been working as a pastry chef and baker for 12 years, with experiences ranging from interning at three Michelin-star restaurants to managing a small bakery in Paris. The grant funds will be used to purchase a new flour mill.

Lisa Huenke

Since embarking on her career path, Lisa Huenke has been driven by the desire to merge art/creativity with a passion for environmental protection. Huenke plans to use the grant funds for training and software for a high-level of expertise to pursue career goals.

Andrea Perry

Andrea Perry plans to start an MBA program with Comcast’s education assistance program. She has always been passionate about business and social work and will be able to pursue better opportunities by furthering her education. Tuition costs will be covered by the program, but the grant money will cover all other expenses and materials needed for her degree.
