SALIDA ” Salida police are investigating after thousands of dollars worth of fireworks belonging to a church were stolen from a stand set up in a discount store’s parking lot.
Officer Randy Caricato (kehr-uh-KOT’-toh) says the suspects got access to the Living Waters Assembly of God Church fireworks stand with a pair of bolt cutters, either late Tuesday or early yesterday morning.
Stand operators discovered the break-in about 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Caricato says a large box of assorted fireworks that retails for several hundred dollars was stolen, along with dozens of hand grenade-type smoke bombs and several cases of TNT-brand fireworks.
The church was operating the stand as a fundraising activity.
Police have no suspects.
