BRECKENRIDGE ” Some 11 unlocked bicycles were stolen in one night this week from the Wellington, Gibson Heights and Vista Point neighborhoods of Breckenridge.

The bicycles were stolen from unlocked garages, opened garages and front porches between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Wednesday, said Detective Kevin McCarthy.

The total value of the missing bicycles is estimated at $30,000.

The thefts follow those of other high-end bicycles that have occurred throughout the area this summer.

Chief of Police Rick Holman has reminded residents to “always secure entry to their residences. Bicycles stored in garages should be kept locked to discourage crimes of opportunity.”

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call police at (970) 668-8600.
