Thomas: Understanding her party’s platform

Ted Thomas, Breckenridge

Elizabeth Wickert of the Summit County Republicans wrote of the beliefs of GOP women when it comes to abortion. She said there are women on both sides of the issue and she continued that the opinions are … “personal, not political.”

Does she recognize the supreme irony of that statement? That is what all of us on the progressive side want. A personal decision, not a government one. Yet, her party is determined to criminalize abortion and birth control. Did she not understand what is her party’s platform? Does she not see what GOP-controlled Legislatures are doing to issues on a woman’s right to her own medical decisions?

This is why the Hard Right in this country must be defeated.
