Thursday power outages hit Breck

BRECKENRIDGE ” Repair work on a main distribution line to Breckenridge caused several dozen momentary power blinks in town Thursday night, according to Xcel Energy spokesperson Mark Stutz.

Earlier in the week, severe winds caused minor problems and outages in the area, which workers were attemping to repair Thursday evening between 5:45 and 8:00 p.m., Stutz said.

During that time, workers put the entire power load on one line while they were fixing another line, which resulted in approximately minute long power outages because of high demand.

Stutz said there were no widespread outages.
